North Carolina, a great southern state, can claim many writers who lived here; were inspired here; including O’Henry, F. Scott Fitzgerald, John Ehle, Thomas Wolfe, Kathy Reichs, even Francis Mayes now calls NC her home. I hope to join these ranks, although they are huge ink wells to fill. Yesterday I sat on the porch of Thomas Wolfe’s house in Asheville, NC. Can greatness rub off? I hope so. A mere sprinkling of his talent combined with the current era could guarantee well worded novels.
