For an afternoon reading on the deck, let me suggest Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) White Bordeaux Selection Prestige – 2009. Floral on the nose and crisp on the tongue, it offers green apple, pear, and pineapple with just a hint of something sweeter that I can’t pin down. Melon? Maybe.
Made from 60% Semillion and 40% Sauvignon, it’s a smoother blend than some whites, especially Sauvignon Blanc, yet has more body than most Chardonnays.
Delightful sipped alone, it was also a good accompaniment to a bread and cheese lunch. We have declared this wine as a ‘must have’ in our wine cabinet. Priced under $20 in most stores, it is also an affordable choice.
Try it and tell me what you think.
