The perfect pot roast only takes a few minutes to put together, then set the crock pot and you’ll come home feeling like a spoiled princess with dinner ready and waiting for you. An extra bonus, the house will smell divine!
The ingredients are simple:
Roast – seasoned with salt and pepper
Potatoes – peeled and cut into quarters
Carrots – peeled and cut into thirds
For gravy:
1 and 1/2 cups water
1 tablespoon flour
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1 packet onion soup mix
Toss carrots and potatoes into crock pot.
Top with seasoned roast. Mix all gravy ingredients together and pour over roast and vegetables. Cook on high for about one hour then reduce to low and let it continue working its own brand of magic while you go off to do your work. The gravy will make itself, the vegetables will be perfect and the roast will be tenderly falling apart.
I prefer southern biscuits with this meal but french bread, rolls, whatever you prefer works fine, as long as you have something to soak up this savory gravy.
How to wash the crock pot; throw in some automatic dish washing powder and hot water and it will melt the goo right off the sides all by itself.
Try this recipe for those busy evenings, blustery days, or when company is coming.
I use my crockpot a lot – and even when I’m home – and have never seen a recipe for the pot roast gravy like this .. Definitely will try it, looks yummy!
Thanks 🙂 MJ
Hope you will enjoy it!
