The moon has quickly become my new obsession.

Especially when it’s full.
I can easily snap fifty shots of its position in one place and then another. Tree limbs feathering around her as she rises made me think of witch’s fingers grasping at her light. This could, of course, be the influence of Halloween.

What do you think?
Happy Halloween everyone!
I think they’re gorgeous!! And I think you need to give me pointers on taking moon photos!
I’ve seen your gorgeous photography. You need no pointers from me! Thanks Dianna.
Renee, these shots are nothing shorter than incredible! I have never ever been able to photograph the moon. Perhaps my near toy camera is the reason? ha! Nevertheless, these images put a smile on my face. I could vividly picture a little witch on her broom flying across this big, fat, beautiful moon! 🙂
Thanks Bella. The camera matters. When I discovered the long range shots I could get with my new camera, I was delighted. I’ve got some sunrises and sunsets to share too. But I thought these of the moon set the Halloween scene. Glad you liked them.
Love the moon shining so brightly on your page 🙂 Great pics! MJ
I’m so glad you like them MJ. Happy Halloween.
Great photographs. Rick noticed that our last moon appeared especially large.
Perhaps it was the eclipse, but it was also glowing pretty strongly too.
These shots are gorgeous, Renee! I love that they’re in black and white. You frame them perfectly!
I have to give the cypress trees the credit. As she rose, they just seemed to wrap around her face. I couldn’t resist.
Renee, these are beautiful. I love the subtle silhouettes.
I’m so glad you like them.
I can never get my photos to do the moon justice. You’ve done a lovely job.
Thanks Lisa. Even my son liked these.
Renee, these photos are simply magical! Wow! That’s really all I can say!
I’ll take wow! Thanks Linda.
Love the atmospheric shots. Yes, full moons!
I still haven’t gotten timing and focus right (or maybe it’s just my camera) but one thing that helps (or make that two) is to put the camera on a tripod and use the timer to shoot so that you don’t wiggle the camera at all.
This new one has an internal stabilizer too, so that’s handy. Glad you like these Lee.
There is something mystical about the moon that makes it the perfect subject for art. I love the photo where the moon is surrounded by the little fingers of the tree branches. As if the tree is embracing the orb in the sky. Lovely.
The tree gets all the credit. I just snapped the shot. It did the framing. Glad you liked it Wendy.
Boo-tiful 🙂
Nice!
So glad you became moonstruck. Elegant images.
I am a bit moonstruck. At least I’m using it productively. Thanks Karen.
I think you’ve gotten the hang of photographing the night sky. Good for you! Your photos are lovely.
It’s the camera Patti. I simply adore it. Thanks.
Brilliant! Literally! You’re inspiring me to try to make some moon photos. ~ Sheila
I bet you have a really clear sky up there in Alaska. Can’t wait to see them.
Awesome!
Thanks Patty.
Well done …. and we had very lousy weather, thus only a few knocks on the door.
Bummer. We only had two kids show up. It is a tradition that is nearing its demise I’m afraid.
It could be … with events like Trunk or Treat gaining a foothold.
WOW! This pictures are amazing. Absolutely love the way you’ve framed the moon here with the branches creeping around the edges. I also love the pictures you posted of the sunset/sunrise. Beautiful.
Thank you Joanna. I’m glad you found a few pictures here that spoke to you.
Love it!
Wonderful. The moon is special, isn’t it?
